SOME PASTA POSITIVITY PENNE-D DOWN🍝

By : Pallavi S

We all know pasta is easy to make, easy to digest and humans of all age groups love pasta.

PASTA IS DELICIOUS.

In one form or the other, pasta is a part of cuisines all over the globe. Also, pasta dishes, are a personal favorite. Pasta can also be made, using many different combinations of flours and sauces.

I have some pasta positivity penned down.

Gluten free pasta, in vegan sauce is the latest trend. Also, people who do not eat their daily required portion of vegetables, can add these vegetables to their pasta sauce, and enjoy your pasta.

Without worrying about your disliking towards, healthy green veggies.

These are some of the things, that most of the amateur cooks do wrong, while they cook a pasta dish.  I too made these mistakes, when I was new to pasta world.

Most often, we tend to make these mistakes and I thought of penne-ing it down for all of us.

Let’s explore!

BOILING PASTA IN A SMALL OR TINY VESSEL / ADDING LESS WATER WHEN BOILING PASTA.

Avoid using a small vessel when boiling pasta. Don’t force your favorite noodle or pasta into a small vessel, without adding enough water for the pasta to cook evenly.

Pasta when cooked in an appropriately sized vessel, will not stick together. This is the best way to not have a clumpy plate of pasta, after putting in so much of efforts in making a pasta dish.

There is nothing worse, than a plate of mushy noodles/pasta on a dinner table.

BREAKING LONG NOODLES INTO HALF OR SMALL PIECES

This might be a normal thing in human world but considered as a sin, in pasta world. Breaking noodles into half or into pieces, because long noodles won’t fit into a tiny vessel.

Make sure you use a big vessel when boiling pasta, SPECIALLY SPAGHETTI OR NOODLES, in order to avoid breaking noodles into half.

ADDING OIL WHILE PASTA IS BOILING

Adding oil when boiling pasta, will make no difference in the flavor. All it does is, makes it difficult for the pasta to stick to the sauce and impossible for the sauce to get absorbed in the pasta.

Sauce will slid right off the slick and oily pasta.

A drizzle of oil (olive oil if possible) is the best way, to elevate your sauce and pasta dish after it is prepared.

OVER OR UNDER COOKING PASTA

Would you like a plate of pasta that is chewy, rubbery with hard center? or a mushy soft pasta/ Porridge mixed with a sauce?

No, you me or nobody is going to like a pasta that is over cooked or under cooked. That is why, it is important to learn cooking your pasta, al dente. Key is to stir it while cooking, as pasta releases starch while cooking.

Stirring pasta avoids pasta from sticking and becoming clumpy.

Boiling pasta for 7 to 9 mins makes sure pasta is cooked enough. Finish cooking pasta in the sauce.

That’s how you get a perfect plate of pasta.

TOO MANY INGREDIENTS

Keep your pasta sauce simple. Even 4 to 5 ingredients are enough, to make a perfect plate of pasta.  Not every sauce goes with every pasta. That is why, it is necessary to use pasta which complements the kind of sauce, you wish to prepare.

Scoop pasta directly into the sauce, from the water it is boiled in. Starch present in the pasta water will help in thickening the sauce and also sauce will coat the pasta, way better when you use pasta boiled water in the sauce, instead of normal plain water.

Once you are well versed with these simple yet important rules about pasta, you can make your own delicious plate of pasta at home.
